From his earliest memories, Thaxton was enchanted by the magic of poetry and song. The first tune he mastered on guitar in 1990 was James Taylor's finger-style arrangement of "You've Got a Friend." He played it at a couple of high school senior year celebrations, and that's when his deep love for music truly began.
During his time at Alma College, he dove into classical guitar, piano, music recording engineering, and sang in the choir. He started composing songs with Clay Brehm, a jazz-loving electric guitarist. Together, they played in a band that mixed original music with grunge covers.
Summers between college were a blend of music and cycling for Thaxton. With his guitar strapped to his back, he busked and performed solo acoustic gigs in Traverse City, MI.
After graduating in 1994, Thaxton and Clay formed the band Solid Ground in the Detroit area. They recorded a 12-song album of Alternative Folk Rock, with Christopher's lyrics reflecting social and psychological themes, both personal and public.

Moving to Grand Rapids, Thaxton did sound for bands and some DJing before teaming up with Alison Cole in 2003. They performed acoustic pop covers and DJed together.

Alison Cole and Thaxton by Christopher Thaxton
Being a dad to two daughters took center stage for a few years, but he kept rehearsing covers and writing original songs at a lakeside trailer park community along Lake Michigan.
In 2014, the Thaxtons moved back to Traverse City. Thaxton returned to his roots with one-man band style solo acoustic/DJ gigs and unplugged busking, guitars and foot percussion in tow in a bike trailer.
Throughout it all, Thaxton has brought live music as his 'dish to pass' to weddings, gatherings, and special events.
